Acelepryn Insecticide
Chafer grubs and leatherjacket larvae can cause considerable damage on turf surfaces both through primary damage as the grubs and larvae feed on plant roots and by secondary damage as birds and mammals disrupt the surface looking for a food source.
Acelepryn can give excellent control of these damaging insects when used as apart of a proactive integrated turf management strategy.
For best effect, Acelepryn should be applied prior to egg hatch, when adult beetles or cranefly numbers are at their peak. This means that the active substance will work its way into the rootzone in time to control the young grubs or larvae at the point of emergence.
Applications of Acelepryn can be used to target leatherjackets and chafer grubs on a wide range of turf surfaces including sports pitches, golf greens, tees and fairways, golf roughs, racecourses and gallops, bowling greens, airfields and lawns.
Product Benefits
- Effective control of damaging insect pests in turf
- Can be used as part of an integrated turf management strategy
- Controls young grubs and larvae to reduce damage in the current year
Instructions for use
Where to use
Acelepryn can be used on managed amenity turf and amenity grassland surfaces:
- Amenity grassland*: Areas of semi-natural or planted grassland subject to minimal or non-intensive management
- Managed amenity turf*: Areas of frequently mown, intensively managed turf including all types of sports turf, golf greens, tees and fairways
*The total surface area treated must not exceed 10% in any given situation
When to use
Acelepryn should be applied prior to egg hatch, when the adult chafer beetles or cranefly numbers are at their peak. Monitoring of adult numbers should be undertaken to determine the most effective application timing for the pest species that are present on any individual site.

Active Substances
Chlorantraniliprole
Bio-Chemical Mode of Action: Chlorantraniliprole belongs to the ryanodine receptor modulator group of herbicides.
Ryanodine receptor modulators work affecting the ryanodine receptor muscle, causing it to leak calcium. This results in paralysis and death of the insect.
Mobility: Chlorantraniliprole are is primarily toxic to insects following ingestion.
Application timing: Chlorantraniliprole is best applied to coincide with young and actively feeding larvae.
Resistance: Because it only works on one target mechanism, insects can develop resistance to this insecticide. To avoid this occurring with chafer larvae and leatherjackets best practice includes, avoiding using more than two applications of insecticides from the same mode of action group per generation to the same insect species on a crop; avoid using less than the label rates of Acelepryn; target the most susceptible insect life stages whenever possible.
