John Deere's extensive walk-behind mower range is expanding further for 2009, with the introduction of several new models. These include the JX90 range of walk-behind lawnmowers, consisting of three machines - the JX90, JX90C and JX90CB.

Designed for the domestic market, the JX90 model replaces the JX80. It has a newly designed 54cm (21in) cast aluminium mower deck featuring John Deere's exclusive TurboStar mowing system. This combines a deeply contoured deck and built-in fan with the hard wearing TurboJet blade to create increased airflow, resulting in excellent grass lift and maximum airflow for improved mowing and grass collection in all conditions, particularly in wet grass. A 15 year deck guarantee is also standard when the mower is used in domestic applications, due to its robust design and high quality construction.

The JX90C and JX90CB are commercial versions of the JX90, and are designed for more sustained use under more challenging mowing conditions. Both feature the same 54cm (21in) cast aluminium mower deck but with additional steel reinforcements inside and out, as well as the TurboStar collection system. The mowers are powered by premium Kawasaki 6.5hp (gross) engines which are protected by a reinforced steel frame, and have external fuel tanks to enable longer working hours with fewer refills.

These durable and lightweight bags feature a patented 'bag full' indicator to tell the operator exactly when they need to be emptied. Cutting heights are adjustable from 17 to 85mm (0.6 to 3.3in).

John Deere's patented anti-vibration system (AVS™) is fitted as standard on the handlebars of both the new JX90C and JX90CB models. This is designed to offer local authority, public utility and private contractor users all-day, stress-free operation, due to the special vibration absorbing elements attached to each side of the handlebar to reduce hand-arm vibration. With these elements, the mowers meet the latest EU and HSE directives on operator safety.

Additional features on these two mowers include bigger wheels and a new steel control unit. Both models offer variable operating speeds of 1.6 to 3.4mph, and in addition the JX90CB incorporates a blade brake safety clutch. When this is released, it stops the mower blade but leaves the engine running, which allows the user to empty the grass bag without needing to restart the mower every time.John_Deere_JX90CB.jpg

Following the successful introduction this year of its first ever range of domestic walk-behind mowers featuring a rear roller, John Deere has now added an additional entry level 43cm (17in) model, the R43RS. This mower offers single speed operation at 2.5mph, from a 5.5hp (gross) Briggs & Stratton ReadyStart engine.

Designed and built at Deere's worldwide walk-behind lawnmower factory in Germany, these rotary rear roller mowers feature a perfectly balanced, heavy-duty roller to provide a professional looking striped finish on lawns of all shapes and sizes up to 2000m2. Integrated at the rear of the mower deck, the full-width roller supports the weight of the mower, allowing it to follow ground contours for an attractive patterned cut.

The TurboStar fan assisted collection system ensures perfect mowing results, and the lightweight die-cast aluminium deck also comes with a standard 15 year warranty for domestic use. Cutting height is adjustable from 12 to 66mm (0.4 to 2.6in), while the mower's handles are also adjustable for height and can be folded away for easier storage and transport.
