New greens mowers from John Deere
John Deere's new 180C and 220C models are among the lightest walk-behind greens mowers currently available to greenkeepers and groundsmen. Based on the previous B series machines, these new C Series mowers feature increased durability and reliability, and have been designed to meet the latest emissions and environmental regulations.
Featuring true cutting widths of 46 and 56cm (18 and 22in) respectively, the 180C and 220C greens mowers are designed to provide a top quality finish on golf courses, tennis courts, bowling greens and other fine turf areas. Reducing the overall weight of the mower allows the operator to follow cut lines and overlap more easily and with more accuracy.
Both mowers feature a new 4hp air cooled Honda petrol engine, with a dual-traction drive that provides even greater manoeuvrability and straighter tracking on greens, regardless of mower speed. Cutting height is precisely adjustable from 22.2mm (7/8in) down to 2mm with the standard 11 blade, 127mm (5in) diameter reel, which is capable of delivering a consistently high quality cut at speeds up to 5.2mph.
C series mowers are also equipped as standard with an operator presence system, which features a quick release mechanism to disengage traction. Available for both models, the optional gear-driven Greens Tender™ conditioner counter-rotates to stand the grass up before cutting, for an even better finish.
To further enhance operator comfort and improve the quality of cut, features include lower noise and vibration levels, an adjustable loop-style handlebar and easy bedknife-to-reel adjustment. Additional key options include detachable transport wheels, to make it easier to move the mower around when it's not in work; a pull-back clutch that allows the mower to be reversed while the reels are engaged; and a choice of grooved, smooth or spiral rollers.
