SNV17707Cricket specialist total-play Ltd has re-launched its innovative range of non-turf surfaces for match and practice play to make it easier for clubs to find the solution that meets their needs.

The company's flagship non-turf pitch system tp365, which carries ECB approval, remains unchanged and is popular with cricket clubs from grass roots to professional. Offering unparalleled stability and balanced play for the modern game, the system is proving itself at every level, from junior to first-class cricket.

Utilizing the exclusive tp1 playing surface carpet and tp2 shock pad, the tp365 design is built to provide a low-maintenance and long lasting 'roll free' system. The Wilton woven tp1 playing surface is free draining, designed to encourage spin and create a balanced game. Greater pile height and turf density, when compared against more traditional carpets, provides the right performance characteristics for the modern player and increases lifespan.

New to the range are two systems which, while not ECB approved, have been carefully developed meet different ground and play conditions. The tp5 non-turf pitch solution is designed to provide a consistent, all-weather dynamic playing surface for all round play and age groups. The design uses a tufted carpet, offering good pile height for ball spin which, when combined with the tp2 shock pad, provides assurance of a consistent playing surface. Best suited to a porous aggregate-based construction, the system is built to provide a good value, long-lasting, high performing surface.

Indoor and concrete based surfaces are served by tp6; specifically designed for use on hard, non-porous surfaces. Using the specially developed tp6 non-porous, needle punch playing carpet with a PVC backing, the surface can be secured permanently or rolled up and stored away where the base surface is required for other uses. The PVC backing means that the carpet is suitable for use alone or with a shock pad for enhanced surface longevity. The properties of tp6 are ideally suited to the improving cricketer - with reduced spin, slower ball speed and less ball deviation, players can hone their skills under more controlled ball conditions.

This range means that any club, regardless of size and budget, can invest in a system that will suit their needs and offer excellent value for money, as ex-cricketer and MD at total-play, David Bates, explains:
"The total-play NTP range has been developed by a team with extensive experience of both playing cricket and ground management; we combine science and sport to create solutions that really work in practice. We've differentiated between the products in the range with the aim of offering clubs real choice when it comes to the solution that will work best for them, depending on budget and circumstance. We're always on hand to offer advice as to which system would best suit an individual club's needs, and provide installation and maintenance services too, so it's a real 'one stop shop'."

In terms of installation services, total-play was the first non-turf pitch supplier to be awarded the ECB Non-Turf Pitch (NTP) Code of Practice installer status, having met all criteria of the ECB's 'Code of Practice for the design and installation of non-turf cricket facilities'. All cricket pitches and facilities are installed by a fully qualified in-house construction team while the use of fit for purpose machinery and equipment means that each project is built and finished to the exacting specification of the design.
