Cricket Groundsman of the year

Cricket World® and Pitchcare.com are pleased to announce that dozens of nominations were again received for the Cricket Groundsman of the Year Awards in 2008 and the winners were presented with their Awards at Lord's during the Cockspur Cup Final.

Cricket World® and Pitchcare.com are now pleased to announce the launch of the Cricket World® Groundsman of the Year Awards for 2009.

The 2009 Groundsman of the Year Awards will again cover ICC European countries and Richard Holdsworth, ICC Regional Development Manager - Europe said:"The Awards are designed to raise the interest and awareness of Groundsmanship and to encourage and promote groundsmen, in cricket, at all levels and throughout Europe".

The Winners are nominated for the outstanding quality of the playing surface, general upkeep of the ground, longevity of service or an 'against all odds' type of Achievement Award.

The winners are invited to attend a Presentation, at Lord's Cricket Ground at the end of the season.

The Awards for Groundsmen, outside of the First Class County circuit, will be judged in four categories
a) Club
b) School
c) Local Authority
d) ICC Europe
