Wheeled Buffalo Cylinder Mowers cut longer grass without collection
Allett will be unveiling at IoG SALTEX 2009 (A18) wheeled versions of its four well-known Buffalo walk-behind cylinder mowers. The wheeled models see the conventional rear roller replaced by a pair of wheels enabling the mower to cut grass up to 200mm high, discharging all clippings rearwards onto the ground across the full width of the machine.
Offered on the Buffalo 20, 24, 27 and 34 mowers, the rear wheels operate in conjunction with a pair of adjustable-height anti-scalp rollers which replace the mowers' conventional front roller. The final modification to the mower sees the removal of the curved throw plate behind the cutting cylinder, allowing cut grass to discharge rearwards onto the ground instead of being thrown forwards for collection in a grass box.
Available as a factory-built option on new machines or as a kit to enable existing rear roller Buffalo mowers to be converted by Allett dealers or by end users' workshops, the wheeled versions are designed for customers who prefer to use a cylinder-type machine to maintain a range of grass lengths from 10mm up to 200mm, or even longer under favourable conditions.
Major benefits of the wheeled Buffalo over a rotary mower are improved safety and reduced noise. Enhanced safety is due to the absence of any high-speed lateral stone discharge while reduced noise levels result from the far lower engine speeds needed to produce a precision cut from the Buffalo mower's 200mm diameter, eight-bladed cylinder.
Purchase price of a new wheeled Buffalo mower is identical to the equivalent model fitted with conventional front and rear rollers. The cost of a kit to convert an existing machine starts at £ 755 (+ VAT).
