Wessex STC-180 cleans up
The Wessex ProLine STC-180 has fast become one of the most popular sweeper collectors and is ideal for the autumn to winter clean up. Mounted on a tractor of 25hp upwards, the Wessex offers a generous working width of 1.8m and a hopper capacity of 2.25m. Plenty for the general tasks of autumn leaf clearance.
In sweeping mode, the ProLine STC-180 is fitted with a brush rotor comprising four banks of hard wearing polypropylene bristles which will lift autumn leaves, grass clippings and litter effortlessly into the hopper. The bristles, which are secured firmly into a pre-drilled hardwood strip with a wire staple, are a generous length to give a good 'flick' action, ensuring that the material is thrown to the back of the hopper.
The Wessex ProLine STC is semi-mounted to the tractor to allow the brush to follow the ground contours in work, and be lifted out of work for transport. As the machine is not lifted on the linkage it means the STC can be operated behind a small tractor with limited lifting capacity.
The sweeper collector runs on its own four wheels, totally independent of the tractor. The front wheels are fully castoring and are re-positioned by a simple pin mechanism to adjust the working height, whilst the two rear wheels have flotation tyres to keep turf compaction to a minimum. Power is transmitted from the tractor through a heavy cast gearbox and belt drive to the rotor.
One of a range of Wessex collector sweepers, the STC-180 converts into a flail collector and a scarifier as well. Using the optional change kit, it becomes a multi-task machine that is working all year-round, from cleaning up leaves in the park to cutting and collecting golf course rough and scarifying and collecting on the sports pitch.
