Richard WaltonRichard Walton, National Sales and Business Development Manager for Scotts Professional, will be donning the lycra later this month to raise funds for sports equipment at his local primary school.

Richard and three other parents of pupils at the school will cycle the 100 miles along the Leeds Liverpool Canal towpath from Liverpool to Skipton as part of a series of fundraising events coordinated by the PTA to mark Ben Rhydding Primary School's Centenary.

They hope to raise £1,000 to replace the worn, dated football and playground equipment that's currently in use.

Richard, whose eldest son attends the school, said: "There's good community spirit in Ben Rhydding village and everyone's doing their bit to support our school. I like to go mountain biking regularly but haven't cycled this sort of distance before, so I've been doing a bit of training. Working in our industry, you become aware of just how important it is for children to have access to good quality sports and play equipment so I'm really up for the challenge!
