Unsung Heroes 2004 - Opening Ceremony

By Anne Wilson

SALTEX sees the opening of nominations for Terrain Aeration's Unsung Heroes awards for greenkeepers and groundsmen. The opening ceremony will take place in the STRI marquee G16 at 11.30am on Wednesday 8th September with Tim Parker and Bryan Payne last year's winners, along with sponsors Turf Professional and Pitchcare.

Now into their second year the awards, which are sponsored by Turf Professional magazine and Pitchcare website, are the industry's chance to say 'thank you' to all the unsung turf care heroes who not only do a first class job but put in that little bit extra.

Last year's winners, Tim Parker and Bryan Payne received the hire of a house in the South of France for a week of their choice and £150 towards travelling expenses. The same prize awaits one greenkeeper and one groundsman, judged Unsung Hero 2004 by Gordon Child (BIGGA), Derek Walder (IOG) and Tim Lodge (STRI).

If you have an unsung hero in your greenkeeping or grounds care team, pick up a nomination form from the Terrain Aeration stand DA (demo area) A59 at Saltex and the STRI Marquee G16, the October Issue of "Turf Professional" or the Pitchcare website.
