As greenkeepers and groundsmen throughout the UK look to repair the effects of last year's long dry hot summer Barenbrug is advising them to consider including its perennial ryegrass Bartwingo in their renovation programmes.

Bartwingo maintains excellent characteristics in higher temperatures and has performed extremely well in France and Portugal prior to its arrival in the UK. Barenbrug has included it in its popular BAR 6 and BAR Extreme mixtures for 2004.

Barenburg senior area manager Jayne Leyland said: "With UK weather records confirming that 2003 was the warmest, driest and sunniest on record and climate change predictions indicating that this trend is likely to continue, a cultivar that has heat tolerant attributes is certainly worth considering.

"Our technical team is available to advise any groundsman or greenkeeper who had problems with the heat and drought last year and is looking for a proven solution."
