The future of golf bunkers to be revealed at Harrogate Week
Blinder, an innovative new concept in golf bunker lining, is set to be revealed at Harrogate Week 2011.
Aimed at improving the consistency and playability of bunkers, the product's development stemmed from many years of experience of greenkeeping industry professionals. The end result is a cost-effective solution delivering consistency of sand, with minimum contamination, that's free draining with the ability to stay on bunker faces.
Blinder is multi-faceted and eco-friendly, using recycled rubber and a specially formulated binder which is mixed on site to ensure complete consistency and strength. The liner is carefully hand laid and sculpted to follow the contours of the bunker base to give an even, uniformed layer, which after being allowed to set, also has excellent drainage qualities.
Its flexibility sets Blinder apart from other bunker products. If it is struck by a golf club, it is strong enough to withstand the impact, but flexible enough to prevent damage to the club or the golfer. It also allows for the expansion and contraction of soils caused by differing climatic conditions.
Blinder has a number of useful technical sheets and pictorial diagrams with useful tips to help golf course managers with their preparation before the Blinder bunker liner is laid. The information also extends to handy maintenance ideas, such as drainage flush points being fitted to keep drainage pipes clean and free of silt.
