Steeley-Eyed Performance

CROCODILE AT OXLEY GC 011.jpgOxley Park Golf Club is steeped in tradition. This rural setting belies its actual position, just a short drive from the City of Wolverhampton. Since its formation in 1913 it has provided a challenge for both course personnel and players alike.

Current Head Greenkeeper Paul Jeffries has been in charge of this course for over 11 years and is currently assisted by Deputy Head Greenkeeper Ian Holborn. Oxley Park had known of Crocodile Golf in the months preceding their first order and upon the visit to the local manufacturing facility by Paul and Ian in Jan 2009, elected to re-new the bottom blades for their fleet of Jacobsen Greensmowers and also the Ransomes-Jacobsen fairway mowers.

The demands of the membership require an early, swift start on daily greens and fairway maintenance. At this time of year the finish on this mature course requires a type of manicure only possible with the most steeley-eyed equipment. As already highlighted the Greensmowers and Fairway mowers both now enjoy the benefits of the Crocodile Golf stable which uses hot rolled steel in its high quality production.

Commenting on their performance, Paul Jeffries confirmed that these replacement blades had surpassed their expectations - in fact they're almost too well made! The total of 24 bottom blades across this range of machines has been very well received and has proven to be a very shrewd decision with initial feedback from the fairway mowers that offer "a substantially stronger performance than the equivalent OEM supplied product".
