Protecting Playing Fields – Sport England

Jonathan Carrin Industry News

Sport England identify playing fields as one of the most important resources for sport in England but many of them are waterlogged or in a state of disrepair. £15 million of National Lottery funding is being invested into improving community sports fields.

The programme is being delivered via five funding rounds with around £3 million being awarded to projects in each round. The first four rounds of funding have benefited 235 projects who have been able to either create new natural turf pitches or improve existing ones that needed leveling or drainage works.

The maximum grant available is £50,000. Round 5 opened on 10 June 2013 and will close on 5 August 2013.
