Pitch problems unlikely

Charlton officials are confident there will be no problems with the Valley pitch prior to Saturday's match against Millwall (3pm).

Given the snow on Thursday night and freezing temperatures throughout the week, Addicks groundstaff have been monitoring the surface closely.

Staff were busy on Friday morning clearing a couple of inches of snowfall from on top of the frost covers, which were laid at the start of the week.

And Valley groundsman Colin Powell and his team were confident the day before the game that there wouldn't be any problems prior to this weekend's South-East London derby.
