A Greenkeeper who worked at this year's Open Championship says winning the Solheim Cup bid would bring a "fantastic buzz" to the area.

Chris Goodall is assistant greenkeeper at Elsham Golf Club and was one of the select few to help at July's Open in St Andrew's.

Now, he is helping The Telegraph "Back The Bid" by Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort to stage the female equivalent of the Ryder Cup in 2015.

Chris said: "It's a fantastic buzz being at a massive tournament like The Open.

"It can only be beneficial to Forest Pines if they win the bid, and I would most definitely be going there if they host the Solheim Cup."

He got the chance to see some of golf's biggest stars up close at The Open after responding to a call in a trade magazine.

And he thinks having the best women golfers from Europe and the USA fighting for glory in North Lincolnshire would inspire young sports fans in the region.

"I got into golf by playing and greenkeeping, but before that I was watching it on TV," said Chris. "The Solheim Cup is one of the biggest tournaments in the world and it's very much talked about in the local area.
