At this year's Windsor, Orange Plant provided a comprehensive demonstration of stump grinders of all sizes and varieties. As the European partner for the highly acclaimed Carlton range, visitors can expect to see a number of Carlton stump grinders as well as a selection of wood chippers from the GreenMech portfolio.

The Carlton SP7015TRX is one of the largest of its kind available in the UK which Orange Plant has recently taken delivery of three units for hire or sale. This 'go anywhere do anything' machine provides big cutting power from a massive 1780mm cutting arc that can take stumps of any size and diameter easily in its stride.

It offers an impressive 1060mm cutting height above ground and 340mm below. The high track base provides a powerful grinding platform, while the increased ground clearance allows work on taller stumps. However, the unit's track system hydraulically retracts down to a mere 890mm meaning it can be easily manoeuvred through tight spaces such as a standard width gate. Power is provided by a four-cylinder 66hp turbo diesel engine.

In the middle of the range is the Carlton SP5014TRX - a compact, powerful and reliable stump grinder. It comes with a short track base to optimise manoeuvrability and a radio operated remote control to aid great access into tight areas without sacrificing power or safety. It has a 1090mm cutting arc, a 355mm cutting depth below ground and is available with a powerful, yet quiet 33 or 44hp engine.

Considered an entry level machine, the pedestrian Carlton 900H will be the smallest machine on display. This easy to use and low maintenance unit is the best choice when maximum portability and minimal investment are considerations.

Orange Plant's wood chipper hire fleet is believed to be the largest in the UK with in excess of 110 units.
