Leicester City's award-winning grounds team are recruiting for three exciting apprenticeship positions within its Sports Turf department.

Aiming to attract the next generation of sports turf professionals and to invest in new talent, the successful apprentices will work across the Sports Turf Academy's facilities, including King Power Stadium and LCFC Training Ground.

The apprenticeship will focus on career development through education and training on a nationally recognised apprenticeship programme.

The Sports Turf Academy have enjoyed a hugely successful 12 months and have recently appointed an Assistant Manager to its Technical Services team, as well as a Sports Turf Academy Business Administrator.

Over the past 12 months, the STA have improved more than 200 community grassroots pitches, facilitated sports turf education and seminars to 750 professionals, delivered a keynote lecture at the International Turfgrass Society as well as being represented at the UEFA European Women's Championship and FIFA World Cup.

Dr. Jonathan Knowles, Sports Turf Academy Manager, said: "I'm really looking forward to welcoming more apprentices to our STA in 2023 and helping them to develop their careers in the sports turf industry. Working on the pitches and grounds at Leicester City will be a fantastic opportunity for them to springboard their futures in sports turf."

The investment for these new positions has been made possible through the revenue generated by the Sports Turf Academy's work, which includes pitch improvements, training and education courses, seminars, classes, trials, research work and industry-related conferences.

The re-investment back into the sports turf sector is unique to Leicester City and is part of broader aims to meet specific industry shortfalls, such as talent acquisition.
