New mould-breaking machinery from Charterhouse

By Sue Meeken

Living up to their reputation for innovation, Charterhouse Turf Machinery will display many new, mould-breaking products for grounds care professionals at Saltex 2003, meeting the latest market needs.

Aware of the burgeoning market for efficient equipment that can be used for garden 'makeovers' and landscaping projects, as well as for general construction tasks, Charterhouse have recently introduced the astonishingly versatile Multi-One line-up of powered work vehicles, which can accept more than 60 attachments. A range of power options are available, from 18hp petrol up to 50hp diesel engines. Hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic controls give easy operation, and 4-wheel drive ensures sure-footed performance on rough terrain. Skid steer models are also available, offering exceptional manoeuvrability and the ability to negotiate gaps as narrow as 76cm (30in) wide.

All Multi-Ones can be fitted with a telescopic loader arm that increases operating height to a maximum 2.71m (8ft 10in). The rugged machines are light enough to be transported on a small lorry or a car trailer. They are ideal for loading, carrying, cultivating, post-hole boring, mixing, digging, mowing, rolling, trenching, sweeping and hedge trimming, amongst other applications, giving genuine multi-tasking capabilities.

Being shown for the first time at Saltex is the Pilote line-up of domestic and professional scarifiers, which comprises five models that are ideal for rejuvenating tired turf. Petrol versions are available with 3.5, 4 and 5.0hp 4-stroke engines, while electric powered Chartervertiinaction.jpg

At Saltex, a rugged power barrow and a high work-rate turf cutter will be shown alongside established Charterhouse machines for aerating, seeding and top-dressing, plus the unique Verti-Drain range of deep aerators that restore the parts others cannot reach. And, according to Director Philip Threadgold, the wraps may be taken off other yet-to-be-announced units…
