John Deere's new compact tractors, zero-turn mowers and Gator utility vehicles will be seen at BTME 2005 in Harrogate for the first time, alongside a brand new hybrid greensmower being launched at the event. The company is also offering a two year/1000 hours commercial warranty on all equipment from December 2004.

Featuring new styling common to the company's larger agricultural models, the 20 Series four wheel drive compact tractors offer more power, up to 30 per cent more torque and lower fuel consumption. This five model range includes the highest horsepower compact tractor ever sold by the company, the 52hp 4520, plus a brand new mid-chassis tractor, the 42hp 3720.

The range features John Deere's latest Tier 2 low emission engines, and a twin pedal eHydro hydrostatic transmission with cruise control and the exclusive LoadMatch and MotionMatch systems. LoadMatch maximises the available torque by automatically adjusting transmission speed under load, which makes it impossible to stall the engine. MotionMatch makes it easier to switch between tasks such as loading, mowing, spraying and aerating, where different working speeds and transmission response times are required.

Additional equipment such as the newly styled front loaders and mid-mounted '7-Iron' 60 or 72in rotary mower decks are equally easy and straightforward to hitch up and use. The John Deere loader's quick-change design allows fast attachment of 4-in-1 buckets, pallet forks, blades and a range of other implements. Further features include a choice of rear, mid and front ptos, plus an improved front hitch and pto design.

John Deere's hydrostatic drive 717 and 997 zero-turn mowers provide the choice of a 19hp Kawasaki petrol engine or a 30hp Yanmar diesel engine. The heavy duty commercial mower deck will be available in 48in side discharge and 60in side or rear discharge versions, depending on model.

These mowers are controlled using responsive dual steering levers, and turn easily within their own length, either 77 or 96in. The operator platform includes a deluxe high back suspension seat with armrests for extra comfort, and a folding two-post ROPS and seatbelt are fitted as standard.

Ideal for all kinds of transporting, loading, hauling, dumping and general materials handling duties, the new CX and HPX Gators utilise John Deere's proven continuously variable transmission, and complement the existing petrol, diesel and electric powered vehicles.

Measuring just under 96in long and 49in wide - small enough to be transported in the bed of a pick-up truck - the stylish CX Compact Gator features a 10hp Kawasaki petrol engine, two wheel drive with diff lock as standard, internal wet disc brakes and a 12V DC outlet. The wide, easy loading cargo box carries up to 182kg, while total payload is 363kg and towing capacity is 272kg.

At the top of the range, the HPX High-Performance Gator is based on a new hydroformed steel frame for increased durability, and is especially suitable for rough terrain, heavy duty haulage and commercial applications. Powered by a 20hp Yanmar diesel engine, it is available with two or four wheel drive, and is equipped as standard with all wheel suspension, front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, rear diff lock and a two speed high-low transmission.

This vehicle has a 409kg steel cargo box, a payload/towing capacity of 590kg and a 12V DC outlet. Capable of travelling at speeds of up to 25mph, the HPX Gator can be supplied with an optional ROPS canopy or cab if required. A wide range of attachments is also available for all Gator models - details can be obtained from the John Deere dealer network or by visiting the www.johndeere.co.uk website.
