More and more greenkeepers and groundsmen are turning to precision equipment made by Dennis to keep their turf in peak condition. Some of the company's most popular machines will be displayed at BTME 2005 in Harrogate, running from 18-20 January next year.

The prestigious Loch Lomond Golf Club is one of the many highly satisfied users of the Dennis S500. The Club actually has four of the units, and Head Greenkeeper Ken Seims uses them with a dedicated spiking reel attachment as a key part of his maintenance programme.

He uses the S500 every one to two weeks to aerate Loch Lomond's greens, as well as chipping greens and putting greens, amounting to some 1.3 hectares (over 3 acres). "Using the machine is vital, as it ensures any surface moisture can percolate through the soil and leave a true playing surface," says Ken Seims. "It also helps promote healthy turf growth."

The S500 has a 500mm working width and features an integral turntable for simple 90 and 180 degree turns without damaging the turf, even in wet conditions. The versatile machine can also accept a seed slotter designed for optimum seed placement.

Also on view at BTME will be the amazingly versatile Dennis 'FT' pedestrian mowers, designed to give the finest finish on sports turf. The machines accept quick-change 'cassette' attachments for essential tasks like verti-cutting, scarifying, aerating and brushing, making them tremendously cost-effective.

FT machines are available with cutting widths from 17-34in (43-86cm). All are light in weight, exert minimal pressure on the turf, and are easy to manoeuvre. Larger 'G' Series units are also available. New at BTME will be the G660, a 26in (66cm) model boasting all the high work-rate features of its larger stablemates. New cassette options will also be on view.

BTME visitors will see the innovative G150 single-seater golf car, a lightweight alternative to less efficient 'buggy' type units. It is ideal for less mobile players. The machine is highly economical for operators, since the rechargeable batteries provide enough power to cover at least 36 holes per day, and offer a useful hire revenue opportunity. They also cause less damage to turf. BTME will see the launch of a new version with a canopy, developed in response to customer demand.
