Head Groundsman MCC, Lords Ground.

When I left school I became an electrician's apprentice, the job only lasted two weeks until I decided that I hated the boss so much that I tried to electrocute him.

Living close to the ground I have always been connected to Lords so it was fantastic to become part of the Groundstaff in 1969 and even better to become the Head Groundsman in 1987.

Throughout my career I have offered my expertise to the Industry and in particular to the club Groundsmen whom I regard as the 'real heroes'. Personally I am still getting to grips with this technological age, but I do know that the Internet provides the easiest and quickest way to access information.

While I find myself with great resources at Lords, both in my staff and machinery, most Groundsmen have to work with limited kit and finance. Through the Pitchcare website I can now reach far more 'real heroes'and offer not only advice but hopefully some of the weapons to arm themselves when they entertain their committees.
