MAP Live demonstration day changed

With participants from the 2013 series confirming their participation in the 2014 series of MAP Live demo days: test the best machines in groundscare, the organisers are already assimilating visitor and exhibitor feedback. One clear message is that both groups would like to see a wider acknowledgement of innovation in the groundscare sector.

Therefore, all visitors to the 2013 demo days are invited to nominate an innovation in groundscare. It could be a piece of work, a machine, a technique, a company with innovation at its core, or some technology that's relevant to contractors, stadia, educational establishments or local authority/parish council space. MAP Live participants form the judging panel, and if one is nominated then a substitute will be found in that particular case.

As the current judging panel have a large number of commitments, to streamline the initial judging stages, it's been decided to move the 2013 Sedgefield date to the 4th July. This will enable judges to consider projects firstly in Scotland at MAP Live Falkirk on 3rd July and then Sedgefield in the north-east the next day. MAP Live 2013 will finish at Chepstow on 17th July as planned.

Visitor comments are equally positive. As Jeff Walker from Gavin Jones (the leading grounds maintenance and landscape contractor) explained "The day has been brilliant, driving the Profihopper with a steering wheel makes it much easier to use. This is the first time on the Toro mower also but it looks a very good piece of equipment. I am looking forward to the talks later on." His colleague David Davies added "the whole day has been very insightful".

Ms Ali Polawski, Head Groundsman at Roedean School, noted: "MAP Live at Ardingly was an excellent event, and it was interesting to have all the kit we needed there so that we could easily compare brands".

David Wharrier of Streetpride, Derby City Council observed: "This concept of a local, bespoke demo event is more relevant than anything else out there"

Keith Christian, Director of BAGMA, observed "It's admirable to see a new initiative, at a difficult time in our sector, giving buyers, dealers and manufacturers what they've been asking for over several years.
