Jacobsen Mowers and E-Z-GO Golf cars for Rothbury GC
Founded in 1891, Rothbury Golf Club nestles in the heart of Northumberland's Coquet valley on the site of the former racecourse. The course has recently been extended to 18 holes and an impressive new clubhouse constructed to provide members and visitors with superb facilities. To maintain the course, the club has purchased new mowers and a fleet of six electric golf cars from their local RANSOMES JACOBSEN dealer, Rickerby Ltd.
The newly extended course is picturesque, part sloping and part level, and benefits from spectacular views of the Coquet Valley with the Cheviot Hills and Cragside in the distance.
Senior Greenkeeper Glen Thompson has taken delivery of new Jacobsen mowers including a Tri-King for tees and surrounds, an LF-3400 for maintaining the fairways and an HR-4600 for the semi-rough and rough.
Thomson Bathgate, Chairman of the Greens Committee says, "We purchased the new equipment to help us with the extra work involved with the additional new 9 holes. We now have excellent facilities here at Rothbury and have a plan for continually improving the playing conditions. This new equipment is part of that plan. We selected the electric E-Z-GO buggies for their environmental credentials and lower operating costs. They are well used by the members, especially as a majority of the new holes are on the hilly part of the course."
The club has close to 400 members and the new clubhouse offers a huge improvement compared to the previous facilities. It offers easy access, good parking, a spacious bar and dining area, a function room and a decked area overlooking the course with wonderful views up the Coquet Valley.
