The gravel carpet at the new stadium is now complete, barring the immediate area around the kerbstones, it has been levelled off using laser guided machines ensuring as accurate a finish as possible, The gravel has been spread over the top of the drainage lines and sub base to a depth of 100mm.

The job has been held up partly by the builders working to put the finishing touches to the main structure of the new North stand.

At the City of Manchester Stadium the area around the kerb edging had been left open for the irrigation system, this has been the perfect opportunity for the start of the installation of the undersoil heating system, with the main looping pipes being laid along the length of the pitch.

At the moment when a new lorry load of grit is delivered, large metal sheeting is put down to take the weight of the wagons delivering it so that they don't sink and make large indentations in the levels when turning with their wheels.
