INNSA to take over Japanese Knotweed Code of Practice

The Invasive Non-Native Specialists Association (INNSA) is to take over the ongoing administration and updating of the Japanese Knotweed Code of Practice

The announcement was made at the recent INNSA conference in Derby by Trevor Renals of the Environment Agency, who explained that the Code had evolved out of a demand from the commercial sector for information on how to control and manage Japanese Knotweed:

"The Environment Agency initially authored the practice as a comprehensive guide to all those dealing with this problematic species. However, the time has now come to hand over the management of the Code to the industry to self-govern and I have every confidence that INNSA and its governing body will help the Code evolve to meet legislative requirements and continually promote best practice."

David Layland, INNSA director and joint managing director of Japanese Knotweed Control commented: "We respect all the hard work that Trevor and the Environment Agency have put into producing this valuable document over the past decade and INNSA will now diligently administer it in the future."
