Health and safety breaches cost Wensum Valley Golf Club £27k
A golf club owner has been ordered to pay £27,000 in fines and costs after being prosecuted for health and safety breaches.
Basil Charles Todd, the owner of Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club in Taverham pleaded guilty to four offences at Norwich Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A temporary green keeper suffered a serious injury mowing a grass bank with a rotary hover mower which resulted in the amputation of two of his toes.
He had not been provided with safety footwear, there was no health and safety policy or documented risk assessments for the work of the green keepers and improvement notices served on Mr Todd following the incident were not complied with.
Mr Todd was fined £17,000 and ordered to pay £10,000 in legal costs.
