GreenTech inc Seminar at Twickenham Rugby Stadium
By Simon Jacob,
In this meeting findings of a collaborative research effort which is underway to study new stadium pitch root zones and shade management will be revealed.
Presenting the findings and ongoing research will be a group of researchers including Martyn Jones, Dr. Trey Rogers of Michigan State University, and Dr. Jim Crum also of Michigan State University.
Earlier this year, GreenTech Inc hosted a tour of its ITM System in Spartan Stadium in the US which was attended by a group from the UK. During this event, an open discussion session of pitch root zone issues and shade problems in the UK was conducted where the unique pitch care problems in the UK were addressed. From this discussion came a UK/US collaborative research effort to attempt to solve some of these problems.
Also, Dr. Rogers and Dr. Crum will present initial findings about a new shade management program they have developed and the current GreenTech funded research effort to learn how to put this program into practice. Preliminary findings are very encouraging and we believe you will find this meeting very informative.
Keith Kent has always looked into combating the shade issue problem and in his new role is looking at new methods that are currently being researched at Michigan State University, to assist his turf management in another Stadium that will provide yet another challenging growing environment.
The meeting will be at Twickenham Rugby Stadium and will begin at 10:30am when the findings will be presented. After the presentation, an open forum will continue until 3:30pm. Light food will be provided.
