Club Car's Precedent golf car has been recognized by Industrial Utility Vehicle and Mobile Equipment magazine (IUV) with the publication's INNOVA award.

The award, which recognizes innovation in product development that improves efficiency and performance, was presented at the recent IUV Technology 2004 conference in Denver, CO.

Club Car is one of only 20 companies to receive an INNOVA award in the accolade's 5-year history. "A commitment to design and engineering innovation drove Precedent's 5-year development process," said David Rowles, Club Car vice president, worldwide sales. "We're delighted and honored that IUV is recognizing that commitment through this award."

Precedent represents the industry's first major shift in golf car design and engineering in more than 20 years. Among the innovations cited by the magazine in its praise of the golf car was Precedent's AlumiCore chassis, which is the only automotive ladder-style aluminum frame in the golf car industry; the 360 Bumper system, which provides wraparound impact protection; and the car's DuPont Surlyn "Reflections" body panels with molded-in colors that resist damage and eliminate maintenance associated with clear-coat and paint.

"These innovations told us that Club Car was investing in the marketplace and using customer feedback to direct its design efforts," said Amy Cornish, assistant editor of IUV.
