MASTERING THE ART OF DRAINAGE

With global warming a constant contender for the cause of increased rain fall in many parts of the world, BLEC, exhibited their GROUNDBREAKER and SANDMASTER ATTACHMENT at BTME in January, as a reliable and never more timely answer to the drainage problem in the landscape, turf care and amenity industry.

When looking at solving these types of problem BLEC Landscaping Equipment CoLtd take not only the creation of the machine to do the job at hand into account but also the time factor, ease of use and all inherent economical considerations.

The task before them was to produce a machine with high working output that would effectively drain an area of ground allowing water to pass into a mains system or dyke. The GROUND BREAKER with SANDMASTER attachment achieves this by creating a series of sand bands 25cms apart and to a variable depth of 20cm in a matrix format, thereby allowing uniform and complete drainage and de-compaction of the area.

This machine is capable of dealing with wet or dry material and as well as sand will work with other granular materials such as fertilizers, gravel and Lytag, an established environmentally friendly by product of the coal burning industry. The 1.5 model in the photograph is capable of injecting approx 80 - 90 tons of sand at a time and will cover an area equivalent to a soccer pitch in one day.

The SANDMASTER attaches easily onto the standard GROUND BREAKER, allowing it's use by the smaller type tractor thereby qualifying and quantifying ease and economical factoring. The company offer three versions of this machine; 1 metre, 1.5 metre (as photo) and 2 metre widths.

This proven system of surface drainage can be used on a wide range of sports surfaces from golf greens and fairways to cricket and rugby pitches. With very little surface disturbance, there is reduced delay and play can commence shortly afterwards, a must in today's demanding market.

Clearly the SANDMASTER is key in taking ground care to new heights and BLEC have achieved their goal of a high output, effective and cost efficient drainage and de-compaction system for today's discerning market.
