Birmingham to be GAS POWERED?

Birmingham City Council are currently looking at the benefits of alternative powered grounds care equipment for their city centre and surrounding areas, by trialling the new Ransomes Highway 2130 LPG.
The Highway LPG is the first commercial ride-on mower with an alternative power source to be launched into the municipal market, and it has been put through its paces by the council for the past two months. It will remain with them until the end of the season.
Peter Cooper, of T H White Ltd, local dealer for Ransomes Jacobsen, the manufacturers of the Highway said, "With the imminent introduction of new emissions legislation and as a demonstration of their commitment to a positive environmental policy, Birmingham City Council has taken the decision to update it's existing fleet of machinery to make it more environmentally friendly.
"The Highway has been on trial with the Council, and everybody concerned has been delighted with its performance. A number of benefits have presented themselves already, with the reduction in emissions being the most obvious. The operators of the machine have also noted that the cut is much improved, it is considerably quieter and vibration levels have also been reduced.
"The Council are also using a Jacobsen electric bunker rake on their municipal golf course, which has also proved to be a resounding success and it is also emission free."
