TOM FLINTOFT WINS rANSOMES JACOBSEN AWARD FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN CRICKET GROUNDSMANSHIP 2003
Tom Flintoft, the retired former Head Groundsman of Durham County Cricket Club, has been awarded the Ransomes Jacobsen award for
Prior to his time at Durham, Tom spent a number of years as Head Groundsman of Hampshire County Cricket club, before returning North in 1991. Always keen to help others in the profession, Tom became an IOG/ECB Instructor and more recently became an ECB County Pitch Advisor, as well as being a Deputy Technical Advisor for Chris Wood, the ECB Pitches Consultant.
Tom received his accolade at the recent annual England and Wales Cricket's Board's seminar and spring meeting of the Pitches Advisory Group and First Class International & County Groundsman. The guest speaker for the evening was the former Manchester United and Twickenham Groundsman Keith Kent, while the awards were presented by the PAG Chairman and former England Captain Mike Denness.
Speaking after receiving his award Tom said, "I have had a wonderful career, and have loved every minute of it. I was very surprised and felt very honoured that I should have been chosen, out of so many worthwhile candidates, to receive this award."
