Another training success for Midland Greenkeepers

Three trainee Greenkeepers from Moseley Golf Club were the latest BIGGA members to take advantage of a regional training course organised by the BIGGA Midland Section. The Lantra training course covered all terrain vehicles which are widely used for all aspects of day to day Greenkeeping. The BIGGA subsidised training event, held at Gay Hill Golf Club was a great success with all three candidates gaining professionally recognised training certificates of competence.
Paul Woodham, who is the Midland region training co-ordinator and course manager at Gay Hill, commented; "It is great to see clubs taking advantage of these training opportunities provided by BIGGA and the Midland Region. Our aim is to provide training at an affordable cost". 
It is the duty of every golf club to ensure the safety and well being of their staff. For a small investment clubs can get together with BIGGA and ensure that there employees are effectively trained and have the opportunity to gain certificates of competence.
Mike Green, Course Manager at Moseley Golf Club, is a strong believer of the training process. The ATV training is a further addition to the other Lantra courses that his staff now have. "Our staff enjoyed the day and have recognised the importance of managing vehicles safely. Quite often the temptation is to just jump on a vehicle and go. It is all about staff taking on responsibilities and learning the capabilities of their equipment".
Gay Hill GC recently hosted A1 Assessor and L12 Coaching Award training in conjunction with the Greenkeepers Training Committee and Plan-it Training. Other courses that have been run this year have included Tractor Driving, Manual Handling, Rabbit and Mole Control and Fire Marshal training.
